Summer: Term 2
During term 6 we will investigating plants in our science lessons. We will be thinking about the features of a plant, how it grows and reproduces. We will be undertaking lots of experiments to think about how water is transported through a plant. We will also be thinking about the life cycle of a plant and the structure of seeds. We are hoping that there will be lots more sunny weather so we can explore our school grounds further to discover the plants and flowers we have growing there too.

This term our geography topic is based around fieldwork which means we will be out and about exploring! Over the term we shall be designing and carrying out our very own fieldwork investigation based on the school grounds of Sturton by Stow school and how our environment is different in different places. We will be thinking about how to create a fair test and how to collect data using different methods. We will also be exploring how to present, interpret and evaluate our results. We are really excited about our new topic.

Our writing this term will include pieces to both entertain and inform, such as a persuasive leaflet and narrative. All of this will be inspired by our class book, ‘Heart In A Bottle’ written by Oliver Jeffers and ‘Weslandia’ by Paul Flieschman. In our whole class reading we will be exploring the book 'The Magic and Mystery of Trees' written by Dr Jen Green.
